The Riley Mayors’ Design Fellowship identifies local leaders with the vision, curiosity, and commitment to tackle real community challenges. Nominate a mayor who is ready to transform ideas into meaningful impact.
Ideal Fellowship Candidates
Fellowship participants are selected based on their leadership potential, commitment to community improvement, and readiness to address real world challenges through design and collaboration.
- Current Mayor
- At least two years remaining in office
- Has a vision for a community project or improvement
- Interested in exploring creative solutions with peers and experts
- Open to collaboration and new perspectives
- Available to participate in the March 3-5, 2027 Fellowship Workshop
What Fellows Receive
Selected Fellows participate in an immersive workshop that connects local leaders with nationally recognized experts and fellow mayors from across South Carolina.
Expert Guidance
Receive practical advice from professionals in planning, design, economic development, finance, and community leadership
Peer Learning
Connect with mayors from across South Carolina who are facing similar challenges and opportunities.
Actionable Strategies
Return home with new ideas, resources, and solutions that can be applied to real community projects.
Bring a Real Community Challenge
Each Fellow participates with a specific project or opportunity in mind. Projects may focus on downtown revitalization, public spaces, housing, transportation, economic development, community identity, or quality-of-life improvements.
During the workshop, Fellows receive feedback and recommendations from experts and peers to help move their project forward.
