Our Mission

The Riley Mayors’ Design Fellowship educates mayors and equips them with the tools to envision and implement projects that positively impact the built and natural environment, quality of life, community pride and economic development in their cities and towns.

The Riley Mayors’ Design Fellowship, a Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Center for Livable Communities program, invites mayors across the State of South Carolina to build stronger cities and towns.

Each spring, a diverse group of mayors receives the opportunity to positively affect their communities. During a two and half day conference each mayor presents the challenges and opportunities of an intended project to an expert resource team. Mayors receive feedback, insight, technical advice and ideas from the team and fellow mayors. The conference also features talks on design and planning topics. Each mayor returns home inspired and empowered to enact positive change.
